Hold on to whatever keeps you warm

It's just scary at times, to see how these two get along so well. They just can't be separated, it's impossible. You will never see one without the other. They are like peas and carrots, you know.

Hubby was taking them for their daily walk to the soccer field. They are all excited from the moment he gets up in the morning, because they know around 9:30 he will get their leashes and it's time for their exercise. This day wasn't any different. All hyper and jumpy, the three of them left the house.

Not too long after they left, I got a phone call from hubby. Before I picked up the phone, I told the oldest daughter: "Wanna bet one of them hurt herself?" Because that's one of the reasons hubby would ever call me. I didn't even have the chance to ask him, because as soon as I picked up the phone, he shouted: "They're gone! The dogs ran off and I have no idea where they are!!!"

Lana and I hopped into our shoes and ran to the front door, to give him a hand in looking for the missing muppies. Tragic endings raced through my mind and I'm sure hubby was in a state of shock, not knowing where to look for them.

I grabbed my keys, opened the door and guess who nearly ran me over? Exactly... two crazy whippets raced into the hallway, looking perplexed and their eyes wide open in fear. Right away I called hubby to bring him home. They were safe and sound, no injuries to be seen. They were already asleep on the couch by the time he got in, about 5 minutes later. Rebba had a strange look in her eyes, like she had witnessed some horrific adventure. Hubby told me about how they were playing ball on the soccer field, like they always do. Until that other pet owner got to the field and let his two canines run free. They were not sighthounds and we know our dogs are not that fond of other breeds. Rebba ran off and Inthe chased her instantly. These are times when I'm happy hubby always takes the same route when the three of them go out for a walk. I do wonder: do you think Rebba and Inthe will have waited to cross the road at the crosswalk?

Yay!

Photo Lana Joos
Isn't she cute? We are so happy with our little blonde Danish girl. So happy she made the journey to Holland and finally to Belgium. She's some girl, you know. Sweet and tender but with a little twist and a mind of her own, Rebba is just the perfect whippy. She loves her people family and she has found a best friend in Inthe. These two make the perfect pair and the way they look after each other, is heartwarming.

Photo Lana Joos
She turned 7 today. We missed her birth and we have no pictures of our sweetheart as a puppy. I hope that one day, her people parents in Denmark will send us some photos of her early days. She was not happy the sun wasn't out this morning, when she went for a walk. She despises the rain and she dilly-dallies around the house, looking for a way out.

Her special birthday treat, was emptying a jar of peanut butter. We have no idea why she's so fond of the spread, but she loves it. I think she prefers the American JIF over the Dutch Calvé peanut butter so we gave her the choice today.

I think you are going to have a lazy day on the couch, with your friend Inthe. Love you sweetie xx

Daddy's girls

They lay down on the couch, their eyes closing every now and then, to continue their dreams of chasing cats and bunnies. It's still very quiet around the house. The sunbeams peek through the windows and I have turned down the volume of the radio, for I don't want to disturb the silence of this Sunday morning. Right above my head, I hear him stumble out of bed. Inthe has heard something too, for she's pointing one ear and her eyes are open wide. Could it be? Is it time to get up? O yes! I can hear daddy flush the toilet before he comes down the stairs. Backwards, of course, just the way his mom taught him as a child. Some of the steps are creaking but that's part of the charm of a one century old house. By the time dad is down the hallway, both dogs are waiting for him by the door. They are all excited, to be seen by the wagging of their tail. He has a hard time coming inside, because they are blocking the doorway. Daddy's here! Daddy's here! How lovely!

While I make coffee, Daddy scratches his hair and yawns away the sleep. He rubs his eyes and touches his beard, to see if he needs a shave. Both dogs are sitting beside him at the kitchen table. They are like statues, so quiet. Their gaze is focused on one person: Daddy.. He tells them he wants to have his yogurt and cereal breakfast before the walk. So they wait a bit longer. Once he gets up and puts on his clothes, Inthe becomes his very own shadow. She won't loose track of him now. Rebba is more chill about it. So she strolls back to the couch, throws out the pillows I just rearranged, scratches the cushions and then finds a better spot on the other side. Her head is pointed towards the kitchen though and her ears are turning constantly. Daddy is looking for his shoes and when he opens the door to get the leashes, Inthe is loosing her marbles. She sticks to his leg and follows him all around. As a joke, he walks around the table and she is right there, beside him.

"Wanna go for a walk?" Inthe puts her legs right on his shoulders and licks his ears and nose. Her tail is even more excited and can't stop wagging. Rebba is trying to look the most uninterested as possible. She's a bit different, you know. She needs her own special invitation. Daddy walks towards Rebba and asks her in a soft voice: "Wanna go for a walk, Rebba?". "Who? Me? Really? Are you kidding me? Of course!". That's when Rebba finally gets of the couch to put on her leash. Both dogs look at me like if they want to say: aren't you coming, mom?

The house is quiet again. The dogs are enjoying their walk. They are marking their territory as often as they can, before Daddy frees them from their leashes. They can run their lungs out at the soccer field, playing fetch and chasing each other. Daddy gets to pick up the poop and trash the purple bags somewhere along the line. The girls are so different and yet so much alike. Almost like our two daughters, I guess. The oldest dog has Daddy's last name, while Inthe is carrying my last name. Just like Lana looks after her father and Eva is mommy's girl. People may have the same features as their pets. Sometimes the children do too..

Kiss me goodbye

This morning, around 5:20 AM, our car was packed with suitcases and bags. Three beautiful young ladies were sitting in the backseat, very quiet and somehow sad. Hubby and I were in front, trying to hold back the tears. I turned off the radio, for the music didn't seem to be appropriate. Only 15 more minutes, before we had to say goodbye to our new member of the family.. Ilaria is going home. She has been living with our family for 3 months, as an exchange student. Coming from Bari, the Southern part of Italy, Ilaria had a hard time coping with our cold season and chilly evenings. Going to school in a very different setting, she couldn't understand why she couldn't use her cell phone during school hours or chew gum in the class. The rules were pretty stupid, in her opinion. Back then, she could've decided to go home and rejoin her own class and continue her life. But she didn't.. She hung in and talked to us about her concerns and questions. We are glad she persevered.

The taxi was waiting for us at the school gate. Gianmario, the Italian friend who came to Belgium with Ilaria, was standing on the curb, tears in his eyes. Even this young man had mixed feelings about going home. After all, having spent 3 months in a Belgian home is an experience. On one hand you want to go home and see your family and friends. On the other hand, you have to leave your new family and friends behind, not knowing if you will ever see them again.. The taxi driver was emotional too, I could tell. But then again, he was not just a taxi driver. This young man had become very friendly with these Italian youngsters. He even came to visit Ila for a last time yesterday afternoon..

Yesterday was a very strange day. So many things we wanted to say, so many stories left to share. We knew this relation would not just stop here. There is Skype and Italy is not the end of the world. I'm sure the girls wouldn't mind visiting her and her loved ones. We have a lot of memories, many thoughts to make our faces smile. I'm sure we will all have to get used to being by ourselves again. That one bedroom looks so empty now and there is no fifth chair at the kitchen table. Tonight around 9:30 PM, nobody will come down the stairs and ask: Can I take a "douchan"?

We will miss you, Ilaria Landriscina.. You are a wonderful girl and we enjoyed your company. You will make more rides with Daddy Cars in the future and your Belgian sisters are looking forward to going out with you in Bari. I'm not to sure about the piercing you promised Eva though... Hahaha... we'll see. Rebba, Inthe and Arthurio are looking for you and they can't find you. Inthe was on the sofa wearing your "muts". I think I will listen to Gente di Mare and dream of a visit to your beautiful home..

Happy as a hound

little Romeo

Inthe and Valerie, 3 years old
We were invited to go for a whippet walk in Antwerp, to celebrate the birthday of Inthe and her sister Valerie. Of course there cannot be a party without friends. And friends there were! Like 14 of them! We had a ball and so did the dogs. It's always great to meet with other whippet lovers. The dogs always get along well. They can run their lungs out and fool around with their friends. They know someone will throw a ball they can chase. Our dogs were real happy to have so many friends to play with. There was the galgo Lola and the whippet puppy Romeo, there was the blue Stephanie and the sweetheart Robijn. Little Vief and Dee, who loves to stare at people until they feed him. The sun was out and even though it was freezing cold in the afternoon, we walked for 5 hours (okay, we sat down for 1 hour to have lunch in between). I fell in love with little Romeo.. he's only 3 months old and he's such a cutie. His owner was already looking into a playmate for Romeo. I'm pretty sure little Julio will come live with them within a week or two. Because that's what whippets do: they have this talent to make you love them. I know I wouldn't want any other breed of dog. Whippets rule!

Today was supposed to be a diabetesfree day. I say "supposed", because that 43 and 299 really spoiled the fun for a while, but there were no other diabetic friends to discuss this with. I corrected the numbers and I kept going. I hear walking makes you energetic. I'm exhausted and worn out, but yes, I did enjoy the day...

The excitable greeting syndrome

Whippets are not that common in our neighborhood. People give us a strange look when we walk our dogs, as if they want to say: what the heck? They probably think we don't feed them - although they are not even that slim. When we tell they are whippets, many reply: oh? Are that the Spanish dogs, that have been abused? nope... those are the Galgo breed..

If we would have to describe the breed, I think most whippet lovers would agree:
  • elegant
  • athletic
  • fast as lightening
  • thieves (they steal the meat out of the pan on the stove in an instant)
  • loving
  • great huggers
  • caring
  • best friends
  • love to live together with other whippets
  • racists (they love all sighthounds, but they despise other breeds, sorry)
  • supersweet
Playing hide and seek is a fun game. It's worth many pictures when you think of it. Rebba loves to play hide and seek. She finds the best spot on the couch, covers her eyes with her front legs or hides her head underneath a pillow and thinks she's pretty much invisible. What a doll!
Whippets all suffer from the excitable greeting syndrome. Whether you went to the bathroom for 5 minutes or you left the house for 4 hours, they are extremely excited to see you return. They lick your face, hug you, climb your back and wash your ears. The happy look in their eyes is priceless.. You can't but love them.. And that's what we do..

Dog-Shaming.com

Inthe
There's a really great group on Facebook, called Dog-Shaming. It's a group where dog owners can post pictures of their dogs misbehaving. It's hilarious at times - although we would probably not laugh if it were our dogs... I think I could post some pictures of our dogs as well.. They have ruined the couch, eaten my glasses and laptop charger, one stole my grilled tuna steak off the stove, and guess what? They look soooo innocent when you see them. But when you come home after they have been into trouble, they know! They try to hide and give me their best look ever, but immediately I smell their mischief. The problem is that you can never catch them by surprise. They behave when you are around, but if they are all by themselves? ttsss....

Today I would like to post a picture of our Rebba, for keeping us awake at night with her barking sessions. There are no medical problems and having sleepovers at other people's houses give no problems: in fact, they are like angels in someone else's house?! We could do with some rest at night.

Rebba
So this is the Shame Board for Inthe: I dug a hole in the couch, so I can rest my head when I want to take a nap.

The Shame hat for Rebba to wear: I love to call my peeps in the middle of the night. I make sure they pity me. It's great to see them downstairs whenever I bark.

In the blink of an eye

You were ecstatic when you told us, your boyfriend had a puppy. It was something nobody had expected, since he didn't really have a heart for dogs. He was even a bit afraid of canine pets. He got to meet our two whippets and along the line, he fell in love with the dogs and he started to long for a dog of his own. You were so proud when he told you they had got a puppy! His siblings gave him the name Bruno (after they decided Snow White was not an appropriate name for a black dog...) and they did real well at teaching him tricks.

Since your boyfriend went to University, you didn't have much chance to visit him or see little Bruno. This week you told me that you missed both and you wanted to go over to his house for a visit. We planned for you to go this weekend. You really looked forward to seeing them!

Your boyfriend texted you late that evening. It was a horrible text message. Little Bruno had died.. He was run over by a car.. You were devestated and in tears. Oooh sweetie... I could feel your pain. I even felt hurt and I had not even met little Bruno. We couldn't do much more than hold you and comfort you. It won't take the pain away, I know. I wish it were different. One day we were talking about Bruno and then, in the blink of an eye..

Is it contagious?

I didn't sleep well last night. Talking to several people about your peeing problem, I got more and more convinced that you had diabetes. You drink a lot and you have to go pee way too many times, day and night. As soon as your bowl of food is empty, you give me that look as if you haven't had anything to eat. The alarm bell started to ring. What if she had.. ??? The symptoms sounded too familiar. She didn't loose any weight though (well, 300 grams since last time, but that's because both whippets are on a diet). I felt real sorry for her.

This morning I drove the 40 min ride to the animal clinic in Holland. The vets were going to take a closer look at you and have your bloodwork checked. Inthe came along for moral support.. The vet said you looked fab and you appeared to be in great condition. Nevertheless, he said the peeing issue needed to be solved, no discussion about that. He shaved a part of your front leg while his assistant was comforting you. You were very brave and quiet and Inthe was so interested in seeing what the vet was doing that she looked as if frozen.

Now we need to wait.. The results won't come in until tomorrow. If the blood results are negative, you will have to do another exam: a urine test. If that comes out negative as well, the problem will be psychological he assumes. Eeeuuuggghhhh... meaning??? Indeed, if the problem is psychological, Rebba will need to see a behavioral therapist. The vet believes Rebba is faking her problem. That it's a way of seeking attention. Is she a rebellious teenager now? I can't believe I'm hearing this..

I don't like Mondays

Don't we all remember the song by the Boomtown Rats? The story behind the lyrics was pretty scary and the message was clear.
Let's say I do like Mondays, I really do. The kids go back to school, hubby goes to work. There's just me, the pets and groceries to run. I like to sit on the couch in the morning, my Latte Macchiato just the right temperature and the perfect colored layers. I make my grocery list, thinking about the menu for the upcoming week. No time to hop in that shower yet because I need to do this in pajamas. That's just part of the fun. The radio is playing its music in the background and besides the ticking of the glass rocks in the fishtank, there's no other sound than the tapping on the keyboard of my laptop. Arthur is having a sun bath in the window sill and the dogs are cuddling up in their beds. I love the beginning of the month. It's always a fresh start financially, meaning I can be a little less creative than in the previous week. I have several stores to visit today. Finally need to buy that heater for Eva's room, need to fill up that freezer with meat and consorts, have to run to the post office to get that paperwork where it needs to go. Would like to walk the dogs this afternoon, since the sun is really wonderful and they need their space to run. I'm sure I will enjoy this day. Can't wait to put away the groceries and start to cook...

A teeny weeny pee problem

For the last couple of months, it's been like having a newborn baby in the house. Our cute blonde Rebba girl is having a pee problem. It's like her bladder has shrunk somehow. She needs to pee all the time. During the day and at night. The daytime pees are not that much of a hazard. It's the nighttime pee sessions that drive us crazy. We don't go to bed that early. But Rebba cannot spend more than 4 - 5 hours without setting her bladder free. We have tried so many things but so far, nothing seems to help. Meaning we have to get up around 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM to let her go outside and do her thing. The interrupted nights are taking their toll. We are exhausted.. Rebba has no idea and she's always real happy to see us. No time to cuddle though, because she has to stretch her legs real fast and run for the back door, so she can do what she has to do. After that midnight call, the dogs have no intention to go back into their bench to sleep. So they spend the rest of the night snoring on the couch. If you happen to be a dog whisperer or if you have other ideas to help us solve this issue, feel free to let us know. We are at the end of our rope..

Kind of like being hit by a bus

You have had this pimple on your cheek for over a week now. It's been bothering me and I wanted the vet to have a closer look at it. So I rang her to make an appointment and she could see you fairly quickly.

You trembled like a leaf, standing in the vet's office. You were falling apart and gave me that sad look like you wanted to say: "why are you putting me through this?". It was necessary though, to exclude certain cases. The vet got a sterile needle out of her cabinet and you lost it. She could hear your heart beat without using her stethoscope. Oh Rebba... there's no need to be that afraid. I was there to hold you and comfort you and take you back home after the exam..

The vet told me I could expect her phone call somewhere in the afternoon. That worried me a little. It worried me even more, when she called me and used the C-word. I didn't hear much else but that awful word and I even missed the word "benign" when she talked about the tumor on your cheek. She called it a histiocytoma. I needed a piece of paper to write it down because it was such a hard word to remember. It's okay. It is not a malignancy. You won't die. There's even a big chance it will disappear just by itself over time. The vet found it strange though, that you got that tumor. It's rarely found in older dogs (you are 6). It occurs more often in young dogs under the age of 2. But at the same time, greyhounds are more susceptible to this type of tumor than other breeds.

It's benign. It's benign. It's benign.

Move closer

Arthur was here first. He came to live with us some 9 years ago. We all know cats are the king of the household. Arthur doesn't know any better. He's the King and he wants to be treated as the King..
Somewhere along the line, Rebba came to live with us. Arthur was not impressed, not by far. He meowed and disapproved most every day. He didn't even want to look at her. Rebba, on the other hand, was very nice to him. Although whippets despise cats, she didn't mind to live together with Arthur in the same house. If he would come inside after a walk in the rain, she wanted to use her tongue to dry his fur. To thank her for helping him, Arthur would slap her..

I think Arthur got depressed the day Inthe came to join us. He must have thought: what the f***? He had no intention whatsoever to become friends with neither one. Inthe wanted to play hide and seek with her furry mate, but he didn't even give her one moment of attention.

All three have a bed of their own. Arthur has a high bed, where he can oversee the room. A little cat sneeze is enough to make the whippets hop out of their beds and see if he's okay. They try to comfort him when he's feeling sick to his stomach or when he accidentally falls of the window sill while sleeping. It's no use: Arthur is not whippet-friendly.

To our surprise, Arthur has become milder lately. He even relaxes on the couch, close to where the whippets are cuddling up together. This morning, all three of them were sleeping on the couch, very very close to one another. Maybe, just maybe, Arthur will chill and accept the dogs. He has had 4 years to adapt to them after all.

Money

Photo Lana Joos
Money can buy you the most beautiful dog, but not the wagging of its tail..

Today is your birthday, my lovely Rebba-girl. You turned 6 and you are happy as ever. Always ready for a cuddle and a hug. You are so loyal. Not always obedient, but whippets are supposed to have a mind of their own. I'm so happy you came to live with us, that September 1 2009. We can tell you like your new home. You have your favorite spot on the couch. Did I tell you that you are so good at making me smile? Just the other day, it was hilarious to see how you nibble little bites of a cookie that I held up for you. You are still my little baby.. Hope to have you with us for many, many more years..

An experience

I know not everybody is fond of dogs. It's not fair though to say you're not a dog lover, if you have never owned one. There are dogs and there are dogs. And then there are whippets.. Yes, here I go again. This breed is so different, so.. well... I don't really know how to express it. Most people who are not fond of dogs, have no issues with whippets. As a child, we owned a whippet girl. Her name was Kelly. She was brindle, just like our Inthe. Her sister, Lady, lived with my cousin in Brussels. She was more like Rebba, a bit darker maybe. So I was used to the breed. I knew what whippets were like.
It took us some years to get our own set of whippies, but we don't regret having welcomed them into our home.
Having a whippet in the house, is a reassurance that you will always have someone wagging its tail for you. Someone who will be full of joy when you enter the room - even if you have left it for only 5 minutes - and who will love you for no reason. A companion who will fight for the nearest spot next to you on the couch. A warm head in your lap and two legs on your shoulders, in a clumsy attempt to give you an enormous hug. The look in their eyes, when they are sitting like sphinxes, waiting for a crumble of that cookie you're having. Their body close to your leg, when you get up to stroll to the kitchen. You always have a shadow following you..
Our daughters were not looking forward to having a dog. They don't like how they want to go in and out the house multiple times a day. They don't like the smelly part, when they have eaten something beyond their diet. They still believe whippets are ugly. But I can tell they love them. They cuddle them when they come home from school. They kiss them goodnight and they let them sleep under their blanket on the couch, stroking their head. So I do believe that they have changed their minds about whippets. I do hear them say they will NEVER EVER have a dog when they have a place of their own. That sounds so familiar.. I felt the exact same way when I was their age..

The sign is wrong. It should say: All you need is Love.. and a whippet. Sorry guys. But whippets rule.

Genuine love

Just look at them... they are too sweet. They are so attached to one another, that each one of them would be devastated if anything would happen to the other. They are always together. You can't see one without the other. Sometimes, they are like Siamese twins. Walking them, they walk side by side, like they are taped together. Rebba is very protective of Inthe. She probably sees her as her baby. She's a very good mommy to Inthe and Inthe does listen to her. At times, Rebba has to reprimand her if she goes out of line and that's when us people need to step back and let them work out their issues.
It's easy to recognize genuine love once you have lived it. It's so pure, so unique. And that's what these two share. A unique love for the other. They couldn't live without each other and I'm sure if one passes away, the other will grieve for a very long time. Let's not go there. Let's just enjoy the moments we are sharing and love them the way they love each other...

Canine Companions

A couple of months ago, I got a private message from the owner of Valerie. Valerie comes out of a nest of six whippet females. Happens to be the same nest Inthe came from. So they are sisters. And they had not yet met. Like their owners..

I heard about this pasture in Antwerp. A place where dogs can run freely, without their leash. Sounded like a plan to me, since Inthe and Rebba love to race around and enjoy nature. When Nicole - the owner of Valerie and Dee - invited us to go for a walk in Linkerwoefer, I didn't hesitate. It just took us longer than expected. To my surprise, she had invited some other whippet owners as well. We ended up with 7 whippets! Fun!

Valerie, sister of Inthe
We had a great time. The sun was out, the place wasn't too crowded and all dogs behaved well. Whippets tend to be a bit racist at times and ours are no different for that matter. Since all of these beauties are whippets, there was no problem. They chased their tennis balls, sniffed each other's rear ends and fooled around. There were meadows to race on, woods to explore and water to cool down. A wonderful place and only a half hour drive. Worth the effort! Although my blood sugars were a bit on the low side all afternoon, the jelly beans did the trick. So we kept going and our tan got more red by the hour.

I enjoyed this outing. Thank you Nicole and Bartje, for the invitation. It was fun meeting you and the whippies. Soon is never far away. That's when we will meet again.

Out here on my own

Both whippets are enjoying some snuggle time in their cosy beds. Well, they have one bed each, but they prefer to sleep on top of each other in one bed. The early sunbeams are warming their backs and their legs are covering their eyes. Arthur is licking his front legs, his eyes closed. I hear the raspy sound of his tongue and I wonder what it must feel like to lick that fur and have all of those little hairs in your throat.
The back door is open, to let some fresh air in. The kitchen radio is playing in the background. I can't really hear the music, since the volume is set on low. My notebook is overheating and I turned it on only 15 minutes ago. It is sitting in my lap, making a noise I don't like to hear..
Hubby left for work around 5:00 AM. His alarm clock alerted me, but I fell asleep again as soon as it was turned off. The children took the school bus at 7:30 AM. I have the house all to myself. There are some chores to be done and lunch to be prepared, but first I want to sit on the couch and think things over. I enjoy that time by myself and it's a good way to start the day. My dietitian needs to be informed about the outcome of her plan for me. I'm so happy I went to see her and get her advise. It's doing the trick! What a relief..
Around lunch, the girls will come home from school. They will be off until Monday and they are so looking forward to that. Let's hope the sun will be out so they can enjoy some warmth as well.
Our goldfish needs to be fed, the dogs could do with a bowl of fresh water and I want to go see if the chickens have provided us with a couple of fresh eggs. Thinking of making French toast for lunch today, some Greek yogurt and strawberries on the side. Maybe I'll bake cookies this afternoon. It was supposed to be a lazy day. Not.

Working out

Just a bit too much fat around the belly and the shoulders a bit too broad. That's what the holidays did to you. You're not supposed to look like this. Your nature is to be lean and skinny. We want you to be healthy and look your best. So hubby decided to give you an extra work out every day. He already takes you and your friend Rebba for long walks, but obviously that won't cut the deal for you. Rebba is ship shape, but you're a bit too heavy now..

It's not that you're lazy or so. You really look forward to the outdoor games. Hubby lets you race around the backyard, chasing your ball. You are so fast and it's amazing how well you jump and get that ball. After play, you come inside and although your condition is pretty good, your heart pounds dramatically and your tongue is ready to lick the saliva dripping on the floor. You recover fast and then you drop your ball in our lap, to make clear that you're ready for some more fun. I have no idea why you put on that extra weight, but still, we cut back on your diet again. You are being fed twice a day and the food you get is already diet food. We do have a small suspicion though, that you may eat the food of your friend as well. She doesn't eat that much and she could care less if you would eat hers. She definitely won't fight over it.

Let's hope working out will do you good. Hope to see you in better shape soon.

What an angel

I know, I've said it before.. but I just love my whippets. They are so sweet and lovable and they love to be cuddled and hugged. Their characters are so different but then again so much alike. They are both whippets after all.

Rebba was the first whippet in our household. She's something special. Came all the way from Denmark to Holland and now she's been living with us for 2.5 years. We're so happy with our little angel. She's just adorable.
I know there are people out there who think whippets are hideous or ludicrous, but that's only because they have no idea how wonderful they are. They are so brilliant, so funny, so whippet-like. I love them to pieces and I'm so scared something might happen to them. I don't know what I would do without them... They cheer me up, they keep my feet warm at night and they love me with all their heart. I'm so grateful for both of them. Unconditional love, that's what it's called..
